Rule of the Bone 3

Russel Banks writing style is reminiscent of the teenage boy/girl. His constant usage of bad grammer slang and run on sentences left many of my friends (including myself) feeling like we had a better connection to Chappie. You could also argue this book was poorly written, and i have many friends who do indeed beleive this. But, i like the overall story being told, and because of that i drop the grammatical errors and poor sentence structure of Chappie. The Canadian (buster Brown) seems like some overwieght pedophile, woh knows how to talk people into things. Chappie even finds himself falling into Browns jaws while he sat down over a coke and some pizza. He gave chappie time and made him feel like he was actually caring about what he had to say. Whether or not Buster Brown was a pedophile or not is up to the reader. An overweight guy in a lingerie store with a young child who looks drugged definately is not a good sight.

The security gaurd treated Chappie like he was nothing, just another loser on the face of plattsburg mall. Even though Chappie sold him weed he never really gave him the benifit of the doubt, and when he was caught stealing he definately did not get any help from him. Chappies step father Ken was even worse. Playing the "behind your back" insult game. He would talk to the cops like he was a deranged teenager with no life. In a way this was true to an extent, all Chappie did was Smoke marijuana and loiter around town. Maybe sell some weed occasionally.

Random Teenage drug use facts:

  1. Around 28% of teens know a friend or classmate who has used ecstasy, with 17% knowing more than one user.
  2. By the 8th grade, 52% of adolescents have consumed alcohol, 41% have smoked cigarettes, and 20% have used marijuana.
  3. Teenagers whose parents talk to them regularly about the dangers of drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those whose parents don't, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.
